On April 14, 2025, four male and two female bobsleigh and two female skeleton athletes from Swiss Sliding entered the recruit school for elite athletes in Magglingen. Among them were Sara Schmied and Vinzenz Buff from the Saint Moritz Bobsleigh Club. The recruit school lasts until August and offers them the opportunity to optimally combine their athletic careers with their military service.

In the first eight weeks, the recruits complete general basic training (AGA). This covers not only military fundamentals but also important topics such as career management. At the same time, there is always enough time to continue individual training and further advance their athletic development.

In the following ten weeks, the focus is on sport: The athletes can fully focus on their training, personal development, and targeted preparation for upcoming athletic challenges. During this time, they are supervised by our national coach, Chris Woolley.

The Elite Sports Recruitment School (ESR) aims to support the systematic development of young competitive athletes – from structured training to the transition to international competition and a potential professional career.

Swiss Sliding is proud and grateful that several athletes have once again benefited from this special program. The targeted support during the RS lays an important foundation for a successful future in elite sport.
